US Navy disaster - destroyers aground on Point Honda Location & time- Point Honda, California 8 September 1923. On the night of 8 September 1923, seven ships of Destroy Squadron 11 ran aground, through navigational error, on Point Honda, between San Fransisco and San Diego. The ships lost were: Delphy (DD-261), (DD-310), Young (DD-312), Woodbury (DD-309), Nicholas (DD-311), Fuller (DD-297), and Chauncey (DD-296). 23 men lost their lives.
