Marked “Safi” behind the utensils, the label does not represent a person or a brand. It’s the name of Morocco’s historic coastal city, which should rather be called the country’s pottery capital. It starts with a mixture of clay and water but after several days of creative labor, it becomes a work of art. While it is sold at relatively lower prices in the country, it could become quite costly reaching bigger markets. But what makes it so expensive?
