Epitaph to Seikilos Program Notes: Delphic Hymns was written for my dear friend Antigoni Goni, who has recorded it at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Brussels with cellist Amy Norrington and violinist Vincent Hepp ; their playing is really brilliant and done with great feeling and sensitivity (which is not exactly what we hear these techno-days). Perhaps a few words from the composer (or co-composer) might be in order. This music is based on a few remaining fragments of the antique Greek music; whereas both Mesomedes music and Seikilos Epitaph date to early 2nd century AD, the Delphic Hymns are of an earlier date, 128 BC.
