What Mountain Elevation Does To A Bag Of Chips

What 3000 meters (10000 feet) elevation does to a regular bag of chips that was sealed down at sea level. The atmospheric pressure decreases with increasing altitude because both the height of the overlying air column and the density of the air decrease. The pressure and volume of a gas have an inverse relationship (when temperature is held constant). This means that as the air pressure decreases, the volume of air trapped inside the bag will increase. As that trapped air or gas inside the bag increases and because the air pressure is less, it will push out and expand the bag like a balloon.
