There’s a stark and quietly desperate quality to the video for “Red Red Rose“ by Stone Jack Jones. An old and run down house. Spanish moss covering the trees. Panning black & white shots of beautiful scenery. A pretty young girl. A loaded gun. The track, similar to works by David Eugene Edwards, Johnny Cash or the like, has darkly gothic, almost religious overtones to go along with the acoustic guitar, instrumentation by Lambchop, and underlying noise. It’s brooding and compelling, and will probably sound great live at the dates below with O’Death.
