Gennadiy Golovkin spoke to Ring Magazine Managing Editor Tom Gray prior to leaving for Saitama, Japan for his IBF/WBA middleweight title unification showdown with Ryota Murata on April 9. Golovkin (41-1-1, 36 KOs), The Ring's No. 1-rated middleweight, recalls his last visit to Japan, when he won the 2001 East Asian Games tournament in Osaka, assesses Murata's abilities and the style matchup. He's not ready to talk about a third showdown with Canelo Alvarez but says if there's a fight to be made (if Alvarez beats Dmitry Bivol in May) he's ready.
