Kensington, London. Artist Eugenie Alexander makes pictures from fabric. Various shots of Eugenie sketching a scene then cutting out and sewing pieces of fabric onto a backing cloth. She uses a sewing machine. Eugenie's husband is Bernard Carter - also a well known artist - comes into Eugenie's workroom. He picks up one of Eugenie's creations - a dragonfly study using various fabrics and metallic thread. Europa and the Bull is another fabric painting - this time worked completely by hand. Other applique artworks are seen including a portrait of Elizabeth I. Narrator observes that “housewives all over the country with a little talent might well take up“ and warns the men in the audience not to leave their clothes around or presumably they will get cut up.
