Paramecium caudatum is a single celled ciliated protozoan that feeds on bacteria and other small microbes. Paramecium can be found in lakes, ponds, rivers and in marine environments. They are covered in cilia, hair like projections that are used to move around and for feeding. They beat their cilia to force prey into their oral groove which leads them to a vacuole where they will be move in a spiral fashion similar to a football. Paramecium can divide by binary fission if they can avoid being eaten by Amoeba or other larger predators.
