(Cahn-Styne) by Vaughn Monroe & his Orchestra, vocal by Vaughn Monroe and The Norton Sisters Not initially relegated to exposure just during the “Christmas season,” this now-standard wintertime tune by Jule Styne and Sammy Cahn reached its peak of popularity during the months of January and February 1946, with the Monroe recording topping the best-sellers charts for five weeks. The Woody Herman version is also included in this competing releases by Bob Crosby and Connee Boswell have previously been posted to the channel. Note that there is also a widely-heard Vaughn Monroe stereo re-do of this tune floating about, but this post is the original hit.
