This was Chaka's first solo outing and it came courtesy of Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson who wrote almost all the songs on Diana Ross's solo debut album. The song and melody had been kicking around a while, and when Chaka became the focus, the song was finished and given as a gift to her. Valerie says that she was glad that Chaka sang “I'm Every Woman“ long and not short since it really built up the tension when she finally finished the phrase. The single version was the album version and mysteriously there never was an extended version of the original song until now. So here is my mega mix of Chaka's “I'm Every Woman“...I hope you enjoy it! keep on dancing!
