India’s northern city of Ayodhya has kept its Guinness World Record for a third year for the Hindu Festival of Lights aka Diwali 2021. The city holds the record for the largest display of oil lamps, lighting 900,000 along the Saryu river's bank. Thousands of volunteers lit the lamps, called diyas, along the Saryu river's banks, through lanes and at houses as dusk fell Wednesday in Ayodhya, where Hindus believe the god Ram was born and where he returned after 14 years in exile. Volunteers kept the lights burning for at least 45 minutes. The city lit 606,569 oil lamps last year.
