After serving as the weekday anchor for CTV National News for 11 years, Lisa LaFlamme was unceremoniously let go from the position by Bell Media on August 15, 2022. LaFlamme was informed of Bell's decision on June 29, but the decision was not made public until August. What makes it even more shocking is that the CTV National News room didn't know of the decision until it was announced publicly. According to an anonymous source to the Toronto Star, LaFlamme still had several years left in her contract. LaFlamme had a career of 35 years at CTV (or it's affiliated stations). She started at CKCO Kitchener before becoming the late night anchor in 1997. She then moved onto the national CTV News department in 1998, before becoming a foreign correspondent.
