Scott La Rock, whose real name was Scott Monroe Sterling, was a prominent figure in the early days of hip hop as a DJ and producer. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short. Scott La Rock was fatally shot on August 27, 1987, in the Bronx, New York City. The incident occurred during a dispute over a stolen car stereo outside the Highbridge Homes housing project. Scott La Rock had accompanied fellow Boogie Down Productions (BDP) member, Derrick “D-Nice“ Jones, to the location to mediate the situation. While trying to defuse the confrontation, Scott La Rock was struck by a bullet and tragically died from his injuries. He was only 25 years old at the time of his death.
