A family of deaf individuals sought refuge at Al-Quds Hospital after their home was bombed. They share their struggles and the hardships their children face amidst ongoing shelling around the hospital, along with shortages of water, food, and basic necessities. When I was in Gaza in 2013 I often went to eat at a simple restaurant close to Al Nuseirat camp on the coast. It was owned and run by a team of deaf Gazans who produced the most amazing food and who were the kindest people. It literally breaks my heart to think of all the people I met living through this hell. They are the most hospitable, gentle people who make the most of their life in a concentration camp. They laugh, they dance, they are just like us, they have dreams and hopes even if they know how impossible it is to realise them. When I was working at Al Amal Orphanage I remember asking the kids, many severely traumatised, what they wanted to do in the future. Many replied “Israel stole our dreams“. Thousands of children with psychological trauma and barely any psychological support. Источник: Vanessa Beeley
