Le Fantôme de Robinson Crusoé: Spectacle de lanterne magique (2015) by Patrice Guérin, Laurent Mannoni This is a professonally-done video of a live recreation of a pre-cinema magic lantern show. It was written, and based on materials assembled by, the Cinémathèque Française's archivist and researcher Laurent Mannoni. The storytelling is based on Daniel Defoe, of course, and on Étienne-Gaspard Robert's slides and events. Mannoni ran the vintage projectors. The narrator (in French) is Nathan Willcocks. Sound effects are by Zak Mahmoud, and live accompaniment on the harp is by Liénor Mancip. Guérin directed and edited the performance footage. The performance was at the Théâtre Impérial in Compiègne, as part of the Festival du film historique.
