On August 27, the Colombian Geological Survey reported an increase in seismic activity at the Nevado del Ruiz volcano. The ash column alarmed residents living near the volcano, mainly affecting the city of Manizales. This is a small increase in activity associated with the hydrodynamics of the volcano and the constancy of the winds in this direction. This behavior is normal within the yellow alert level, but it is important not to lose sight of the situation. This level indicates that at any time the activity of the volcano may increase with the likelihood of a significant eruption. Volcano Nevado del Ruiz is very important all over the world and is one of the most observed volcanoes on the planet. Mount Ruiz is the highest active volcano in the Andean volcanic belt. It is located on the territory of the Los Nevados National Park, where several more volcanoes are located. For 37 years now, the Ruiz volcano has been under round-the-clock surveillance. There are about 100 monitoring stations in the volcano that send information to the Manizales Volcanological and Seismological Observatory.
