This music video is from 1968( a re-release i guess), but the song is from 1965. The Yardbirds created Psychedelic Rock as we know it. Heart Full of Soul and Shapes of Things were both recorded in 1965, COMPLETELY ahead of the curve in terms of what was going on in was mainly Folk Rock. “Over Under Sideways Down“ and “Happenings 10 Years Time Ago“ followed in 66. All 4 of these songs, heavily influential on contemporaries, and the obvious roots of the genre. Unfortunately, this is also partly why the Yardbirds never took off like they deserved. They made the initial recordings that spurred others into action, such as Paul McCartney, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd. But because their hottest things were released in 65/early stuff inspired contemporaries more than catching on with a general audience, who were largely fixated on groups like the Byrds and early phase Beatles in 65. The Yardbirds were one-two years ahead, in terms of style,.....and by the time Psychedelic music began taking off in late 66, they had fallen through the cracks. Someone had to initiate the movement, and it was truthfully them. But it also cost them potential popularity. Bad timing. But their legacy and revolutionary recordings cant be denied
