RSC Tornado SUSU supercomputer has been deployed by RSC specialists at the Supercomputer Center of the South Urals State University in Chelyabinsk, Russia. After scheduled upgrade and addition of 192 Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors it has risen to 127th position in Top500 list (November 2013, held 249th position in the previous list). This powerful system consisting of 384 computing nodes based on innovative RSC Tornado cluster architecture with RSC direct liquid cooling, Intel® Xeon® processors and Intel® Xeon Phi™ coprocessors now has 473.6 TFLOPS peak performance and 228.2 TFLOPS LINPACK performance. It is the largest university-based supercomputer facility in Europe that has Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors. RSC Tornado SUSU is also the most energy-efficient HPC cluster in Russia and CIS (980.3 megaflops/watt).
