It is a big lie that media and any art reflect life. Rather, it is we who are trying to reflect the media in our lives. Using fictitious storytelling rules in reality, we can both improve communication and drive ourselves into despair. What danger may pop culture cause and how it is necessary to perceive it to get it not harmful, but beneficial? TEDxSPbPU speaker Sonchy Utochkina, “Anti-you“ and “Bali Effect“ author, creative consultant and Maxim Gorky Literature Institute graduate will talk about it. I was born in a port city Rostov-on-Don and graduated Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, faculty of literary translation from French. I explore media and the Popular Culture impact. I am also strongly interested in memes and in the development of an approach to their analytics. My theory of metairony and the link between depression and a sense of humor was represented in the ““Anti-ty““ novel , which tells about a stand-up comedian girl. I work as a creative consultant thanks to the author's approach to the storytelling use. I also provide quidance in various fields projects from marketing to Open-World Games. I am highly interested in the system of subconscious symbols, immersiveness and creative blocks. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at
