The Unitree H1 is ‘the most powerful general-purpose humanoid robot of its counterparts with similar specifications in the world’ probably should have people talking about that ridiculous list of qualifiers. Instead people are talking about how it looks like it needs to drop the robot kids off at the pool. Unitree have released a video of the H1 waddling majestically down the street, fending off a vengeful employee giving it a good kick up its positronic posterior. While it fends off the kick masterfully, the odd nature of its walk somewhat removes the fear this all-black automaton could generate – it really looks like it needs to go to the little android’s room. And its hands… how do we put this? Apparently fingers are ‘optional,’ but the domed ‘hand’ and long arm shaft do make the H1 a prime candidate to star in the next Edward Penishands movie. The H1 is due to go on sale sometime within the next decade possibly. Unitree aren’t sure.
