This is another clip from “Into the Night“, a bizarro-world companion to Scorsese's “After Hours.“ Instead of Griffin Dunne trying to cure his mid-80's ennui in NYC though, this one has Jeff Goldblum and LA. If you squint hard enough, they're the same movie. This scene is a favorite: Hired killer David Bowie is after Michelle Pfeiffer, and killer-for-hire Carl Perkins is on their trail. Let me repeat: David Bowie (Mr Man Who Fell to Earth, early 70's Space Glam Rock God) and Carl Perkins (Man who wrote Blue Suede Shoes, equal of Johnny Cash and co-creator of 1950's rockabilly) knife-fight! To the death! And then go out a window! I like to think Pfeiffer represents the soul of mid-80's rock and roll, and each of these musical titans is willing to do whatever it takes to claim her.
