Like too good! Helluva Boss is a show I was quite late to the party on. In fact, I started watching it as Season 1 was just about to finish. My friend Dylan started showing it to me, and at first I wasn't super ultra into it, but as we went through the epsiodes the show and characters started to grow on me. Eventually, I was watching the episodes before he did and watching his reactions, just because the show excites me so much. It's funny and exciting, but not afraid to be real and deep. It's not a one trick pony, it's very methodically written, with everything having meaning... and then Season 1 Episode 8 came out back in June, and I fell in love with the show even more. The episode itself is kind of eh, but the song in it stole the show! I was so unbelievably impressed by Cotton Candy the first time I heard it that I needed to listen to it several... hundred more times. When I showed the episode to Dylan, he was so awe struck that he didn't say anything, and I almost though he didn't like it. But I paused the video after the song and he said, “that was so fucking good!“ And from there, I decided, it's time to do a cover! And this was a tricky instance. Given the area I live in (a fairly conservative area that isn't super receptive to the more risque jokes in the show), I figured I'd struggle to find a vocalist to lay down some stuff for me on it. So reluctantly, I tracked everything on guitar as best I could. But, as I was recording it, I stopped trying to take it seriously and just let myself have fun with it. The song is so fun that I can't fucking help myself! Even recording the music video was one of VERY few times in the entirety of my catalogue that I actually had fun with a cover. I even took a step back on the solo to make it fit better, which I think was worth it. The song didn't need a crazy shred solo, it needed something more melodic and laid back. This was a cover I was so invested in that I borderline think it's my second favorite project to have worked on after the UNDERTALE Medley. As such, I poured in the same amount of love for this one, in so much that I wanted a “perfect“ result, not a “formulaic, typical AlphaStorm cover“ result. This NEEDED to be perfect... or as perfect as I could get anyway. And I'd say it was worth it. In the end, fuck it, this song was so fun! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Credits: Composed by: Kesha Sebert, Drew Pearson Arranged and Performed by: AlphaStorm ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Equipment: Lead Guitar: Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty Rhythm Guitar: Cort Z-44 Bass: Squier Jazz Bass Interface: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 3rd Gen Guitar Tones: Fractal Audio Axe-FX III Audio Software: Cubase Pro 12 Camera: Canon EOS 6D Editing: Davinci Resolve ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ This video is published by AlphaStorm, AlphaStorm is © 2017, Zachary Mair.
