Cretan, born in Romania, conceived the Enigma project while working in Germany, but founded his own sound studio . Studied in Ibiza, Spain, from the early 1990s to May 2009, where he recorded all of Enigma's studio releases to date. Cretu is both the composer and producer of the project. His ex-wife, pop singer Sandra, often sang on Enigma songs.
