Teaching someone how to fly an ILS approach takes time. There is a lot of complexity. In this animation the components of the ILS are described and shown, both on the ground and in the airplane. The animation also shows how the instruments respond to both random oscillations and course drift during the approach, as the instruments provide indications to guide the pilot back on course. This animation follows the aircraft through the audible marker beacons to touchdown all the while showing proper indications on the instrument face. A moving map shows the relationship of the aircraft to the ground-based components in plan and profile view as the airplane approaches the runway threshold. AFTER you watch this animation, go to this real world cockpit view flying an instrument approach through snow into Aspen. GREAT visuals out the front windscreen! ~
