With many content updates at the time and a passionate, talented player base, things were looking up for Unreal Tournament! But sadly with reallocation of staff and increasing neglect towards Unreal Tournament, the game was ultimately abandoned due to the success of Fortnite. I watched this game die in real time. I still remember signing up to the Alpha of Fortnite Save the World while playing Unreal Tournament 4 extensively with friends. It is a weird feeling for me to say that “Unreal Tournament 4 is abandonware“. Could you ever imagine saying that in the UT 2004 times? Would you ever have expected that the franchise that gave Epic Games a household name, would be neglected similar to a bastard child? Incredible, isn't it?
