I have spent the last few days working intensively on a comparison of the AI video generators Luma AI, Runway Gen-3 and Kling AI. The basis for this was the image-to-video function in each case, with Kling in professional mode. I used images generated with Midjourney as a basis. My focus was on fantasy motifs and non-photorealistic images, as this type of motif is a greater challenge for the programs and therefore perfect for a real acid test :-) 📹 Quality of the animations: When it comes to animation quality, there is a clear winner. In over 90% of cases, KLING AI offers the best animation in terms of movement, dynamics and coherence, sometimes by a clear margin. 🏞️ Image quality: Regardless of the quality of the animation, Runways GEN-3 generates the best and sharpest images with balanced lighting. Unfortunately, Kling AI regularly drops off in the depths and shows weaknesses with smaller faces. 🕹️ Camera movements: With Camera Motion, LUMA AI offers a reliable method of determining a camera movement. The other two providers use the prompt to control the camera, but this works very unreliably or not at all. 🖥️ Operation and range of functions: The range of functions is roughly the same for all three providers, and the operation is also very simple and self-explanatory. The biggest difference from my point of view is the creativity relevance slider in KLING AI, which allows you to set how much Kling should be based on the image template or the prompt. Especially in the examples shown here, this was a great advantage here and there and led to a good result. 🤑 The costs also paint a clear picture. A 5s long video costs approximately: Kling AI: USD, Runway Gen-3: 1 USD, LUMA AI: USD. 🏆 There can only be one. Can there really be? Actually, there should only be one. The AI generation of videos is significantly more expensive than the generation of AI images, which means that subscribing to several providers in parallel can quickly add up. However, all three generators have their advantages and disadvantages and produce the best result depending on the subject. Personally, I would therefore like a provider with - animation quality like KLING AI - image quality like RUNWAY GEN-3 - camera control and the costs of LUMA AI If there can (understandably) only be one for you, then my recommendation is - Inexpensive, private use: LUMA AI - Professional use: KLING AI, with some compromises RUNWAY GEN-3 Music was generated with Suno AI, 4k Upscale with Topaz Video AI.
