Last week, I visited Bempton Cliffs to try out my Nikon Z8 on birds in flight. It was my first time trying out the “bird-eye detect“ recently introduced to Nikon's menu. Focusing: When photographing fast-moving military aircraft flying through the Welsh mountains known as the Mach Loop, I tend to mix the focus settings. I combine Nikon's incredible 3D mode and aircraft detect mode. Shooting birds, on the other hand, seems to be much easier. I was expecting to be dithering around trying to find the best combination of focus modes when, in fact, the best mode was precisely what it said on the tin!
