“Tell Me Why“ is big test for an amateur drummer. CAN HE DO IT? I'll let you answer that! I can certainly say that this was a hell of a lot of fun to play. What a fun song! Ringo's wonderful drumming and climactic triplet fill, Paul's phenomenal walking bass line, that goofy falsetto, and those chimey guitars. It's truly unlike any other Beatles song. “Tell Me Why“ was recorded in 8 takes on February 27, 1964, less than 3 weeks after their historic Ed Sullivan Show appearance. It's incredible how much activity they packed into those early days. In the same session they also tracked “And I Love Her“ and “If I Fell.“ Productive day! Some musical observations/trivia: - In my opinion this is probably the second or third best of the Beatles' “swing“ numbers. The others I can think of are “Chains,“ “Love Me Do,“ “Eight Days a Week,“ and the finest, “All My Loving.&qu
