Eastbourne, East Sussex. Burial service for Col. O.A. Fitzgerald; friend of Lord Kitchener; who died with him when their ship; the 'Hampshire'; hit a German mine. Film of the procession going down the street in Eastbourne: 6 horses pulling cart with the coffin; draped with Union Jack and wreath; and soldiers walking alongside. Shot of two mourners in civilian clothes; an old man and a young man; at the head of a line walking between rows of soldiers with bowed heads. Soldier-pallbearers follow with the coffin. Pointed roofs in BG. CU of the men carrying the coffin; and many more men of all branches of the military; and of all ranks; with black armbands. Great shot: More than a 21-gun salute; this is 50 or 100 guns. Shot of long row of soldiers; who have just fired; they bring their guns down; reload; then raise them all at once and fire again. Then repeat. And there is a cross on a pillar; sticking up from behind just above their heads. Really amazing looking. Quite an honour; and all that. Ceremonies; fu
