Cracks become bigger as the clay dries. So always start with a ball, then shape it to other forms. -If your lesson lasts several days, use Elmer liquid glue to attach the clay when it's dry. -Letting the candy cane dry completely before attaching it to the base will be easier than using a toothpick to support it. *Stick with the Crayola Model Magic brand. -I tried cheaper alternatives to air-dry clay. It's too wet and dry too fast, difficult to work with. -You only need Primary Color Sets
