“Thursday, 25 May The 18th stage opens a triptych of decisive stages with many climbs. The route is 161 kilometres long and leads over four climbs to a promising finale in Val di Zoldo. The riders pedal into Oderzo and then ride 30 flat kilometres to the foot of La Crosetta. This is an 11.6 kilometre climb at 7.1%. At the top, the road does not go straight downhill, but undulates for a while before starting the descent to the foot of the Pieve d'Alpago climb. To reach the village, riders have to climb 3.4 kilometres at an average of 5.4%. Back in the valley, in Ponte nelle Alpi, a calm phase awaits the riders. Dozens of flat kilometres uphill and then the riders head up the slope to Pieve di Cadore. This - at 7.3 kilometres and 4.8% - is a friendly foretaste of the finale. On the Forcella Cibiana the race starts to get hairy. After the 9.6 kilometre climb with 7.8%, there are still 25.8 kilometres to the finish. The first half of this stretch is downhill, the second half is reserved for the grand finale. And yes, this is an extremely interesting stretch. First it goes up to Coi at 9.8% over 5 kilometres. Then there is a short descent before the climb to Refugio Palafavera begins. Compared to the climb before, this one is a doddle at 2.7 kilometres and 6.4%, but the crux lies in the word 'before'. The climb to Coi is an impressive chunk. “ ( & Routes 'n' Maps 'n' Flags) Route data: Creating cycling stage animations requires a lot of work and computing power.
