Watch the process of coiling a pine needle basket vase. This project took me a total of 6 hours, to coil the basket, not including the time to gather, clean, and dye the pine needles. Pine needle basketry is a rewarding craft, but it is a slow craft. From picking out each individual pine needle segment to cleaning, dyeing, and weaving 1/4“ by 1/4“ the process is relaxing and tedious at the same time. This video is meant to be an overview of how pine needle baskets are coiled and stitched so that anyone interested in the craft can see the entire process without sitting and watching a 6-hour-long video. I find getting a broad picture idea of what a project entails helps me when I begin something new. So here it is, the broad overview version of pine needle basketry.
