Lumbini is a UNESCO World Heritage site in the Rupandehi District of Nepal. It is considered to be the birthplace of Siddhartha Gautama, who later became the Buddha. The site is home to a number of temples and monasteries, including the Mayadevi Temple, where it is believed the Buddha's mother gave birth to him. Lumbini is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists, and also attracts many tourists and scholars interested in the history of Buddhism. Maya Devi Temple. The Maya Devi Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Lumbini, Nepal. It is believed to be the exact spot where Queen Maya Devi gave birth to Siddhartha Gautama, who later became the Buddha. The temple is considered one of the most sacred sites in Buddhism, and is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists. The temple complex includes various structures and monuments that have been built and added over time. The main temple houses a stone slab which marks the spot of the Buddha's birth, and there is a large standing statue of Maya Devi holding the baby Siddhartha in her arms. The temple also has a sacred pond called Puskarni, where it is believed that Maya Devi took a bath before giving birth, it is still a holy spot for many Buddhist to make offerings. Maya Devi temple is now one of the major tourist attraction in Nepal, and 1.5 million people visit there each year to see it.
