Orthodoxy is an inseparable part of Russian culture, tradition, history and soul. Even my grandfather, who was a member of the Communist party, will say “Потихоньку, слава Богу“ (slowly, thank God) when asked how he is. This humble answer can be found all over Russia. This video shows a part of Holy Liturgy called “Милость Мира“ (kindness/mercy to/of the world). In Byzantine times those attendees who were not members of the church were asked to leave before reading Holy Liturgy, this practice is today abandoned. Read by Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’ Kiril in the Main Cathedral of the Russian Armed Forces and performed by Orthodox choir and ensemble of Engineer Armies “For faith and Motherland“ under Michail Mologin. With Holy Liturgy dating back all the way back to the 5th century, the significance of this prayer cannot be described, it can only ever be felt.
