After the Franco Prussian war ended in 1870 the fortress construction race was on both in Germany and France, and so was the learning curve in both camps. That led to some amazing forts, some huge and most experimental, this was the period leading up to WW1 where old fortress construction met the new dangers of new shells and explosives. Protecting Verdun and Toul was many forts, the huge stop fort of Manonville we visited earlier and than this very special and very strange fort of Liouville. Together with Roger Cook I will go through this enormous fort trying to piece together what is what. And given how much special construction of unknown origins happened here that is still not a completed task. There is something very special and very strange about this place. not to mention that nobody knows what happened here during WW2.. Let me show you what I am talking about. Please like and follow it helps and much more history is coming every week. And all the documents and file
