Vladimir Putin to the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico, September 2, 2025, Beijing: As for Ukraine’s membership in the EU, we have never objected to it. As for NATO, that is another matter. But here we are talking about ensuring the security of the Russian Federation. And not only today, not in the medium term, but in the long term. Our position here is well known: we consider this unacceptable for us. Naturally, it is Ukraine’s own decision how to ensure its security. But this security, as it was written in fundamental documents, including in the area of security on the European continent, cannot be ensured at the expense of the security of other countries, in particular at the expense of the Russian Federation. There are options here to ensure Ukraine’s security in the event of the conflict ending. This was also the subject of our discussion in Anchorage, and I think there is an opportunity to find consensus here. Source: Izvestia/Kremlin ru Source: East Calling
